Venezuela Earthquake Death Toll Rises to 3,535
Venezuela experienced two powerful earthquakes on the 24th, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale. Following the disaster, Interim President Delcy Rodríguez declared a national emergency. Initially, 1,430 fatalities and over 1,000 injuries were reported. The death toll has since tragically climbed to 3,535, with more than 16,000 people sustaining injuries. Additionally, several thousand individuals are reported missing, and over 17,000 have lost their homes, according to the government. The coastal city of La Guaira, located north of the capital Caracas, has been the most severely affected. Rescue teams are currently searching hundreds of collapsed buildings in the area.
