Google has significantly reduced its annual outsourcing contract with HCL, cutting the value from ₹1,900 crore to ₹475 crore. The decision follows Google's strategic shift toward utilizing artificial intelligence to manage tasks previously handled by the IT services firm, including application development.
As a result of this contract reduction, approximately 1,000 HCL technology employees who were assigned to Google projects have been reassigned to other roles within the company.
