The Central Government has lifted restrictions on commercial LPG cylinders, initially imposed in March due to an LPG shortage caused by the Iran war. This decision, announced by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, aims to alleviate supply issues.All previous restrictions on the supply of commercial-use cylinders have been removed. Additionally, the temporary suspension of 'Bulk LPG' supply has been relaxed, now allowing up to 50% of pre-crisis consumption levels. This move is expected to significantly benefit commercial and industrial consumers.During the West Asia crisis, the government invoked the Essential Commodities Act to boost domestic LPG production. An order was issued to divert C3-C4 chemical streams, previously used for petrochemicals and other applications, exclusively for LPG manufacturing. Given the recent improvements in domestic LPG production and the anticipated arrival of imported LPG consignments, the government has decided to reduce the quantity of C3/C4 streams redirected for LPG production.
