A kink in the upper-level jet stream is expected to bring thunderstorms and scattered rain to several districts of Tamil Nadu until March 20.
Many western districts including Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Salem, Madurai and Theni received isolated thunderstorms on March 17.
On March 18, rain is likely across interior districts such as Krishnagiri, Salem, Trichy, Madurai, Namakkal, Tiruvannamalai and Vellore, while western and southern districts may also receive showers. Some places may even experience hailstorms.
These rains may bring temporary relief from the heat, with a slight chance of early morning showers near Chennai on March 19.
