Fans had widely expected Sai Pallavi to win the National Award for her natural performance as Hindu Rebecca Varghese, Major Mugundh Varadarajan’s wife, in the film Amaran. Supporters posted messages on social media backing Sai Pallavi even before the award announcement.
However, at the 72nd National Film Awards those expectations were not met. Yami Gautam won the National Award for Best Actress for her role in the film Article 370. The announcement surprised many, and fans have expressed disappointment that Sai Pallavi did not receive an award.
