A woman from Jolarpettai in Tirupattur district, who works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, has been issued a GST notice demanding payment of Rs 2.79 crore. The notice alleges that a firm named R.M. Traders is registered in her name and has evaded taxes, resulting in the massive outstanding liability.
The woman expressed shock upon receiving the notice, noting that her bank account has since been frozen. Consequently, she is unable to access even her daily wages earned through manual labor. She has formally reported the matter to the relevant authorities seeking urgent intervention.
