The central BJP government has passed a bill in the Rajya Sabha that makes insulting the Vande Mataram song a punishable offense, despite strong opposition from opposition parties. DMK parliamentary party leader Kanimozhi has voiced her firm opposition to the legislation.
In a post on X, Kanimozhi stated that the bill is unacceptable. She alleged that the move is intended to forcibly impose Vande Mataram while permanently sidelining the 'Tamil Thai Vazhthu,' which has traditionally served as the primary anthem in Tamil Nadu.
