The Cauvery Water Management Authority has returned the detailed project report submitted by the Karnataka government for the proposed Mekedatu dam. This development was confirmed in a response to Right to Information queries filed by the organization Poovulagin Nanbargal.
The Authority explained that the project, which was designed to integrate with the Shivanasamudra hydroelectric scheme, was rejected because it aims to significantly increase the utilization of Cauvery river water.
