Chief Minister Vijay addressed the NITI Aayog meeting in Delhi, chaired by Prime Minister Modi, advocating for several key issues concerning Tamil Nadu. He urged the Central government to declare Thirukkural as a national book. The Chief Minister also pressed for the immediate release of Rs. 3,284 crore in pending education funds for Tamil Nadu, emphasizing that the state should not be compelled to implement the New Education Policy (NEP) as a condition for these funds. Furthermore, CM Vijay reiterated Tamil Nadu's demand for an exemption from the NEET examination, proposing that medical admissions in the state be based on +2 marks. Highlighting infrastructure development, he called for the construction of a high-speed rail corridor from Chennai to Kanyakumari. He also requested the upgrade of the Chengalpattu to Trichy and Karur to Coimbatore sections into six-lane highways, and the establishment of an elevated corridor between Madhavaram and Cholavaram. Addressing humanitarian concerns, the Chief Minister sought intervention for the release of Tamil Nadu fishermen detained in Sri Lanka and Pakistan, and the retrieval of fishing boats seized by Sri Lanka. CM Vijay also requested central financial assistance for the "Housing for All" scheme and the release of the Central government's share of Rs. 2,283.40 crore for the Hogenakkal Phase III Joint Drinking Water Project. He affirmed the TTV government's continued commitment to constructive cooperation with the Central government.
