DMK committees that investigated the reasons for the assembly election defeat have submitted their reports.
The report states that the DMK leadership did not accurately assess the growing influence of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Vijay, especially among youth and women.
It is stated that despite repeated warnings from grassroots level functionaries, the information was not considered at the higher levels. The report also points out that the direct connection between the party and the people weakened.
It has been opined that even though the benefits of welfare schemes reached the people, the DMK failed to convert it into political support.
