Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi of the Congress and Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party, rejected the proposal. They demanded specific answers regarding police actions against student protesters and insisted on a separate debate concerning alleged donation thefts at the Ram Temple.
Union Minister JP Nadda accused the Opposition of shifting their demands to avoid parliamentary proceedings, while Congress leaders continued to press for accountability regarding alleged police brutality. The current monsoon session, which has faced significant disruptions, is scheduled to conclude on August 13, 2026.
