AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami accused the government of engaging in horse-trading during the state budget debate in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. He urged the government to reject any elected representatives who resign their seats only to join the ruling party, asserting that such practices should not be tolerated.
Public Works Minister Aadav Arjuna countered the allegations by criticizing the previous AIADMK administration for allegedly bowing to pressure from Delhi. He denied any wrongdoing, stating that those joining the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) do so voluntarily and that no incidents similar to the Koovathur resort episode have occurred. The Minister dismissed claims of a secret alliance between the DMK and TVK as baseless.
Arjuna further argued that Palaniswami’s remarks were unparliamentary and requested that they be expunged from the official assembly records.
