After being dismissed for 45, Jaiswal engaged in a verbal exchange with Fernando that escalated into physical contact, requiring intervention from other players to separate them.
Jadeja warned that physical contact crosses a dangerous line and emphasized that players who engage in on-field banter must be prepared to receive it. He stated that if a player cannot handle such exchanges, they should refrain from initiating them, noting that Jaiswal's actions have placed him under the scrutiny of match officials.
India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak acknowledged that Jaiswal should have maintained his distance, though he attributed the incident to high emotions. Match referee Andy Pycroft may now review the altercation under Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which addresses inappropriate physical contact and could result in fines or demerit points.
