The National Disaster Response Force is monitoring a potential flood threat in the Gandak River following a suspected glacial lake outburst in Nepal. Authorities have issued alerts for downstream areas in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh as water levels rise in the Trishuli River.
In Bihar, two NDRF teams have been dispatched to the West Champaran and Muzaffarpur districts, bringing the total number of operational teams in the state to nine. The state government is maintaining close surveillance and remains prepared to deploy further resources if the situation escalates.
Uttar Pradesh has also increased its preparedness, with an additional team stationed in the Kushinagar district. Currently, 11 NDRF teams are active across the state, coordinating with local authorities and the Central Water Commission to ensure a rapid response to any developments.
