US President Donald Trump has characterized ongoing tensions with Iran as sporadic military skirmishes rather than a full-scale war. Despite the loss of 18 American service members, Trump stated that the situation cannot be compared to the conflicts in Vietnam or Afghanistan. He further claimed that the US has successfully curbed Iran’s nuclear ambitions and currently maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz. Trump warned that any suspicious activity at Iranian uranium enrichment sites would be met with severe military action.
Addressing international involvement, Trump noted that China’s role in the matter remains minimal and stated he has urged Chinese President Xi Jinping to refrain from intervening. He added that Iran faces a long road toward economic recovery. Meanwhile, senior Iranian military commander Alireza Elhami maintained that the threat from the US persists. He asserted that Iran’s armed forces are prepared for any scenario and possess the capability to defeat any adversary.
