The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has imposed a penalty of Rs 10 lakh on the ride-hailing platform Rapido for publishing misleading advertisements. The regulatory action follows complaints regarding the company's promotional claims.
Rapido had advertised that passengers could secure rides faster by paying additional charges. Furthermore, the company promised a payment of Rs 50 to customers if a vehicle failed to arrive within five minutes of booking. The CCPA determined these advertisements were designed to unfairly influence consumer behavior.
