India defeated New Zealand in the final to lift the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Batting first, India posted a massive 255/5, the highest total ever in a T20 World Cup final.
Sanju Samson starred with a brilliant 89 runs off 46 balls, while Ishan Kishan smashed 54 and Abhishek Sharma scored a quick half-century to power India’s innings.
In reply, New Zealand collapsed under pressure and were restricted to 143/8, with Jasprit Bumrah leading India’s bowling attack with crucial wickets.
With this victory, India became the first team to defend the T20 World Cup title and also secured their third T20 World Cup trophy, creating history in world cricket.
