The Bangalore Hotels Association has issued a notice stating that the supply of gas cylinders for commercial use has been stopped from today. The association said the hotel industry is considered an essential service and the sudden disruption will affect many people including common citizens, senior citizens, students and medical workers who depend on hotels for daily meals.
According to the association, oil companies had earlier assured that there would be no disruption in gas supply for 70 days. However, the unexpected stoppage of supply has created serious difficulties for the hotel industry.
The association has urged Union Ministers to take immediate action to restore commercial gas supply and provide support to the hotel sector. Due to the gas shortage, hotels in Bengaluru may remain closed from tomorrow if the supply is not restored.
