Cloudy skies cool Chennai suburbs

Many places around Chennai and its suburbs received rain last evening, providing respite from the heat. A cloudy start is expected today and should keep temperatures in check for Chennai and nearby suburbs. Clouds over parts of South Coastal AP and adjoining areas of North Coastal TN will also help limit daytime heating. Later in the evening, thunderstorms are likely at a few places in North TN as remnant moisture from the west provides a favourable platform for convective development. A low pressure area has moved northwest over Gangetic West Bengal. It is likely to weaken over the next 24 to 48 hours as it continues moving northwest along the Gangetic Plains.
