The Reserve Bank has initiated steps to introduce plastic rupee banknotes. Instead of paper, the note-printing department of the Reserve Bank has invited international firms to supply durable, long-lasting plastic note substrates.
Applications for this process must be submitted by August 18, which is the deadline set by the Reserve Bank's note-printing division.
