Madras High Court Quashes Government Job Orders for Karur Victims

The Madurai bench of the Madras High Court has quashed a government order that granted state employment to the families of those who died in the Karur tragedy. The court ruled that while the government may provide skill development training to support the affected families, the provision of direct government jobs is unacceptable. Justices C.V. Karthikeyan and S. Srimathy observed that no government position should be treated as trivial, as such roles serve as a vital livelihood for families. The bench delivered this verdict while hearing a petition filed by representatives of the NTK and MMK parties, who had challenged the government's decision to offer the appointments.
