Tamil Nadu continues to hold the top position in India for engineering student enrollment, according to the Union Ministry of Education. The government disclosed this information in the Lok Sabha in response to a question raised by Member of Parliament Dr. M.K. Vishnu Prasad.
Data from the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) for the 2023-24 academic year shows that 10,45,015 students are enrolled in engineering programs across Tamil Nadu. Nationally, the total number of engineering students has reached 6,217,351. The central government submitted these state-wise enrollment figures for the past five years to Parliament.
