Opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin demanded that the government take full responsibility and provide a formal explanation in the Assembly regarding the murder of Amudhan, a student who was beaten to death in Coimbatore after reporting drug sales to the police.
Responding to the demand, School Education Minister Rajmohan claimed the incident was the result of a pre-existing gang rivalry between the students involved. This explanation drew sharp protests from the opposition benches in the Assembly.
