England secured a 4-2 victory over India in their Pool D match at the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2026 on Monday at the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen. Although India held a 2-1 lead at half-time, England mounted a decisive second-half comeback to preserve their perfect tournament record.
The result extends India’s winless streak against England in the World Cup to 32 years, a drought dating back to 1994. Despite India controlling 51 percent of possession and recording 11 shots to England’s 10, they were unable to withstand England’s clinical offensive pressure during the final two quarters.
England currently leads Pool D with two victories, while India remains in second place with three points. India is set to face Pakistan in their next match, while England will take on Wales.
