Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed strong dissatisfaction over the quality of public construction projects, questioning if a fourth-party audit is now necessary. During the monthly Pragati meeting, he told top central and state bureaucrats that current third-party audit standards are failing to meet expectations and labeled the situation unacceptable. He emphasized that infrastructure projects must be monitored as integrated systems rather than isolated segments.
Reviewing six infrastructure projects across nine states with a total value exceeding Rs 30,000 crore, the Prime Minister insisted that rapid execution must not compromise quality. He urged ministries and implementing agencies to adopt modern technologies and strengthen supervision at every stage of development. He further noted that increasing capacity in sectors like power is ineffective without corresponding infrastructure, such as transmission lines.
Addressing the rise in cyber fraud and digital arrest incidents, the Prime Minister called for enhanced prevention through targeted public awareness campaigns. He specifically highlighted the need to educate vulnerable groups, including senior citizens and youth, while ensuring continuous capacity-building for personnel to combat emerging fraud techniques. Home Secretary Govind Mohan provided a detailed update on initiatives currently being implemented across 20 states.
