Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLA ECR Saravanan has formally requested that Sholinganallur be designated as either a separate district or a standalone municipal corporation. He cited significant administrative challenges as the primary reason for this proposal.
Saravanan pointed out that the region is currently fragmented, with seven village panchayats falling under Chengalpattu district and 20 wards integrated into the Greater Chennai Corporation. This administrative split forces residents to travel between two different district collectorates to address their basic needs and grievances.
