Residents of a Casa Grande apartment complex in Mogappair, Chennai, staged a protest alleging a 340 million rupee fraud. Over 370 families living in the complex claim that the developer failed to provide promised basic amenities, including adequate water supply, sewage systems, and proper maintenance.
Residents' Welfare Association coordinator Saravanan stated that despite paying 3.2 million rupees in monthly maintenance fees, the complex continues to face severe water shortages. He further noted that the promised solar power facility was never installed, forcing residents to pay 700,000 rupees in monthly electricity bills. Residents allege that the management collected funds under the pretext of coordinating with the municipal corporation to secure these amenities but failed to deliver. They have warned that if the issues are not resolved immediately, they will escalate the matter to the relevant government ministers.
