More than 250 TASMAC liquor outlets in the Chennai suburbs were closed today as employees launched a protest. The strike was initiated in response to the suspension of several staff members who were accused of selling liquor above the government-mandated retail price.
The protesting employees shuttered the shops to condemn the disciplinary action taken against their colleagues. The closures have disrupted operations across the suburban region as the staff demand a reconsideration of the suspensions.
