In an interview with Junior Vikatan, he addressed questions regarding whether the support for a TVK-led government aligned with Rahul Gandhi's aspirations.
Dismissing the notion that the decision was driven by specific directives from the central leadership, Selvaperunthagai clarified that Rahul Gandhi would not personally intervene to demand a prime ministerial bid. He acknowledged that the strategic calculation behind their political position had failed, resulting in a situation that has left the party facing public humiliation.
