A recent surge in violent crimes across Chennai has raised significant public concern. In a brazen attack in the city center, a man with a criminal history, who had recently joined the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), was chased and hacked to death. In a separate incident, a migrant construction worker was beaten to death by a group allegedly under the influence of narcotics.
DMK Deputy General Secretary Kanimozhi has condemned the incidents, criticizing the state of law and order in Tamil Nadu. She alleged that the police force, which operates under the Chief Minister's direct control, has become completely ineffective, asserting that these violent events are clear evidence of a total breakdown in public safety.
