Former minister K.N. Nehru has been named the primary accused in a case involving an alleged Rs 1,020 crore corruption scandal related to the allocation of government tenders during his tenure as the Minister for Municipal Administration and Water Supply. Following evidence provided by the Enforcement Directorate, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) registered a case on the 4th of this month and conducted searches at 30 locations linked to Nehru the following day.
A 26-page charge sheet filed by the DVAC lists 13 individuals as accused, including Nehru’s brothers, his assistant Kavi Prasad, construction firm representatives, and former MLAs. The investigation report alleges that bribes ranging from 7.5 to 10 percent of the tender values were collected under the guise of party funds. Investigators have secured WhatsApp conversations and text messages as evidence, which reportedly show that contracts were awarded to specific bidders before the official tender results were announced. The DVAC plans to issue summons to all 13 accused for further questioning.
