The Chennai Corporation has issued a directive to identify and demolish all dangerous buildings across the city. To ensure structural safety, the civic body will conduct comprehensive inspections in collaboration with experts from Anna University and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).
Commissioner J. Radhakrishnan stated that property owners are responsible for demolishing any structures identified as unsafe during these inspections. If owners fail to comply, the Corporation will carry out the demolition directly and recover all associated costs from the property owners.
