Tamil Nadu Creates Independent Hindu Religious Department

The Tamil Nadu government has issued an official order establishing a new, independent department for Hindu religious affairs. Previously operating under the Department of Tourism and Culture, the entity will now function as the 'Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department.'

The Commissionerate of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments will now fall under the jurisdiction of this newly formed department. The state government has appointed Rajaraman, the Secretary of the Tamil Development and Information Department, to hold additional charge of the new department.
