Chennai and its suburban areas are experiencing a sharp rise in viral fever and dengue cases, with over 2,000 people reporting symptoms in the last 10 days. Health officials confirmed 140 dengue cases during this period, following 160 cases recorded throughout August. Adyar, Anna Nagar, and Valasaravakkam are currently identified as the most affected zones.
Medical professionals report that various respiratory viruses, including Influenza A, Rhinovirus, and RSV, are circulating alongside dengue. Doctors have warned residents against self-medication and urged those with persistent symptoms, such as severe body pain or vomiting, to seek immediate medical evaluation at hospitals.
To curb the spread, authorities are calling for rigorous mosquito control measures, including the elimination of stagnant water in containers and surroundings. Residents are advised to maintain clean premises, use mosquito nets, and ensure that stored water is properly covered to prevent further transmission.
