Communist Party of India (CPI) state secretary M. Veerapandian has alleged that election malpractice has escalated from individual bribery to the wholesale purchase of entire streets. He further claimed that several government ministers are directly involved in these activities.
Veerapandian stated that voters are being offered between 5,000 and 10,000 rupees per vote, adding that he possesses sufficient evidence to support these claims. He specifically noted that these financial transactions are being conducted through digital payment platforms such as PhonePe and Google Pay.
