Former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has launched a sharp critique against Chief Minister Vijay, accusing his administration of negligence regarding the deteriorating law and order situation in Tamil Nadu. Stalin’s remarks follow a series of violent incidents and drug-related arrests involving members of the ruling party.
Highlighting recent crimes, Stalin pointed to the brutal murder of a man in Dindigul, who was killed in front of his wife shortly after signing a bail register at a police station. He also cited the murder of a rowdy named Madan, who was chased and killed while out on bail in Sivaganga, and the abduction, sexual assault, and murder of a nurse near Perundurai, whose body was discovered five days later. Stalin argued that these incidents demonstrate a complete failure of police oversight.
Stalin further alleged that members of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) are increasingly involved in criminal activities, including drug trafficking. He noted that a TVK union secretary was arrested in Vedaranyam for smuggling ganja, and more recently, a party functionary known as 'Meth' Boopalan was arrested in the same district for his alleged involvement in a large-scale methamphetamine production and distribution network.
Questioning the Chief Minister's leadership, Stalin asked, "Are his party members learning this from watching his films? Is the state police unable to catch them, or have they been turning a blind eye because they belong to the ruling party?" He suggested that the Chief Minister is only nominally in charge of the police department, questioning if he has effectively "outsourced" the force.
Stalin emphasized that to control the drug menace, the Chief Minister must first exert control over his own party and ensure the police force operates under his direct supervision. He concluded his statement by directly addressing the Chief Minister: "CM sir, your negligence is costing lives. You told us to 'leave drugs and take up sports,' but you should first leave your rest and take charge of your department."
