Mumbai police sources have revealed that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, following their attempt to target actor Tiger Shroff, had also placed several other high-profile Bollywood stars under surveillance. According to investigators, the gang initially focused on Salman Khan, but after failing to execute their plan, they were instructed to identify easier targets with less stringent security.
Members of the gang reportedly arrived in Mumbai posing as tourists to monitor the residences of Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Kangana Ranaut, and Akshay Kumar. During this period, they allegedly used auto-rickshaws and bike services to move around the city, often pretending to be fans taking photographs outside the homes of these celebrities.
Regarding the attack on Tiger Shroff, police stated that the gang obtained information from an auto-rickshaw driver about the actor’s routine of playing football in the Juhu area every Sunday. After scouting the Juhu ground on October 11, they carried out an attack on October 18. Those arrested in connection with the case had reportedly been in Mumbai for approximately 20 days prior to the incident.
In response to these threats, the Mumbai Police continues to provide security to various film personalities, with a state-level committee regularly assessing threat levels to adjust protection accordingly. Salman Khan has been provided with 'Y-plus' category security since November 2022, which was further strengthened in October 2024 following the murder of Baba Siddique. His security detail includes 11 to 12 personnel, featuring four armed commandos.
Shah Rukh Khan also received 'Y-plus' security in October 2023 following threats related to his film 'Pathaan'. Kangana Ranaut has been under 'Y-plus' protection provided by the central government since September 2020, following tensions over her comments comparing Mumbai to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar are both provided with 'X' category security, which includes two rotating security personnel, one of whom is a personal security officer.
Authorities noted that many actors bear the costs of their own security arrangements. Investigators suspect that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang is attempting to exert control over the Bollywood industry, similar to the influence once held by underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
