Madurai Ranks 7th Globally in Extreme Heat Cities Study

A recent study by Oxford University researchers has revealed that Madurai ranks 7th globally among the top 50 cities experiencing severe heat. Chennai also features on this list, securing the 49th position, a finding that has caused concern. The comprehensive study identified 14 Indian cities among the 50 most heat-stressed urban centers worldwide. Other Indian cities included are Bengaluru at 33rd, Kolkata at 35th, and Mumbai at 45th. This data highlights the increasing challenge of extreme temperatures across major Indian metropolitan areas.
