Google has announced a significant update to its cloud storage policy, expanding the data counted against a user's storage limit. Previously, storage quotas for Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos were calculated separately from device backups. Moving forward, backup data—including text messages, call logs, app data, and system settings—will now be included in the total storage calculation.
Following the announcement, users have expressed concerns that this change will cause the standard 15GB free storage allowance to reach capacity much faster than before.
