The Communist Party of India (CPI) has condemned Tamil Nadu Agriculture Minister MRK Panneerselvam for offering the draft state agriculture budget at the Tirupati Tirumala Venkateswara Temple. CPI state secretary M. Veerapandian issued a statement criticizing the minister's actions.
Veerapandian asserted that religious faith is a personal matter and should not be conflated with government or political affairs. He stated that placing an official government document in a temple is contrary to the Constitution and the principle of secularism. The party has urged the minister and the state government to refrain from such practices in the future.
