At least five people have died and 41 remain missing after a ferry caught fire off the coast of Indonesia's East Java province. The vessel, which was carrying 271 passengers and crew, was traveling from Surabaya to Makassar when the incident occurred near Madura island on Sunday morning.
Authorities confirmed that 225 people have been rescued so far. Search and rescue operations are currently underway to locate the 41 individuals who are still missing.
Officials are working to verify the identities of the victims and those rescued. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
