Following overnight rainfall in Chennai, the Meteorological Department has forecast moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms in parts of the city today. Atmospheric circulation and a pressure trough are expected to bring moderate rain and winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h to nine districts, including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchirappalli, and Karur. Chennai is expected to see a maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius.
Heavy rainfall is predicted for the hilly regions of Theni and Coimbatore over the next two days, with moderate rain likely in other Western Ghats districts and parts of northern Tamil Nadu.
