The George Town Court in Chennai has issued an arrest warrant for former minister Ponmudi in connection with a case involving controversial remarks he allegedly made regarding women and religious beliefs. The court issued the order after dismissing a petition filed by the former minister seeking an exemption from personal appearance in the proceedings.
Following the dismissal of his plea, the court has directed authorities to execute the arrest warrant and produce him before the court by September 2.
