Shivcharan Ram Ratan Gupta, a former textile trader, passed away at an old-age home in Sonipat, Haryana, following a prolonged illness. Despite being informed of his deteriorating health, his three daughters—residing in Nepal, Uttar Pradesh, and Mumbai—were unable to travel to attend the funeral in person.
The cremation was conducted by the facility's management and local community members while the daughters observed the proceedings via a video call. One daughter, Anita, transferred Rs 5,100 to ensure the rites were performed properly, and the family later requested that the management immerse Gupta's ashes in the Ganga.
Gupta, who had dedicated his life to supporting and educating his daughters, had previously expressed a wish for eye donation, which was honored by his family following his death. The daughters have since requested video recordings of the funeral proceedings from the old-age home staff.
