Food safety authorities in Bengaluru have uncovered significant hygiene violations at 26 upscale hotels following a special inspection drive conducted on August 7. Officials reported finding expired dairy and bakery products, as well as vegetables and meat affected by fungal growth, across several three-star and five-star establishments.
During the raids, inspectors seized large quantities of unsafe food, including 105 kilograms of expired products at The Radisson Blu and 76 kilograms of meat at The Lalit Ashok. Other affected properties included Shangri-La Bengaluru, Four Seasons Hotel Bengaluru, Vivanta Bengaluru Whitefield, and Taj Yeshwantpur, where improper storage and labelling practices were also identified.
The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department has collected 35 food samples for laboratory analysis and issued formal notices to the involved hotels. Further legal action against the establishments will be determined based on the final laboratory reports.
