The Tamil Nadu Express has marked 50 years of service, celebrating five decades of rail connectivity between Chennai and New Delhi. The milestone was reached on 7 August 2026.
To commemorate the occasion, a WAP-7 locomotive, named 'Thangam', was decorated for the service. The train continues to serve as a vital link between the state capital and the national capital.
