Actor and choreographer Raghava Lawrence has announced his entry into politics, stating that "circumstances have brought me to a situation where I have to enter politics." This follows earlier speculation that he would contest the Trichy East by-election on behalf of the Thaveka party.
Lawrence had previously stated on June 11 that he would clarify reports regarding his potential candidacy in Trichy East. However, he postponed a significant announcement, originally scheduled for yesterday, to today due to the demise of director Bharathiraja.
In a statement posted on his X platform, Lawrence explained his decision. He revealed that he never envisioned himself entering politics, nor did he have intentions of earning money or contesting elections. His sole aim was to serve society on a larger scale, ideally by supporting and working alongside someone close to him in politics.
Lawrence further stated that he would share a video at 10:00 AM today. In this video, he plans to speak with complete honesty and transparency about his understanding of politics, how it entered his life, his mother's views on the subject, and pivotal, interesting incidents that shaped his journey. He urged viewers to watch the video and share their thoughts, emphasizing the value of their advice and guidance as he embarks on this important step with their blessings.
