DMK Organizing Secretary R.S. Bharathi has sparked political debate by questioning the opposition to a potential alliance between the DMK and AIADMK. He asked, "What's wrong if AIADMK and DMK, who are partners, form an alliance?"
Bharathi emphasized that the AIADMK is not an "untouchable" party, noting that Communist parties have allied with it multiple times. He also pointed out that circumstances now place DMK and AIADMK members in the same row in the Assembly, leading cadres of both parties to perceive a sense of unity. Furthermore, he claimed that AIADMK cadres themselves have concluded that M.K. Stalin is the only one who can safeguard the Dravidian movement.
These remarks come as by-elections are anticipated in the next six months for six constituencies, including Trichy East. Political circles are now speculating whether the DMK is testing the waters for an alliance with the AIADMK ahead of these crucial by-elections.
With the combined vote share of DMK and AIADMK reportedly reaching at least 45%, questions are also emerging about whether such an alliance could be a strategy to counter actor Vijay's political entry. All eyes are now on AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami's response to these developments.
