President Donald J. Trump has announced that he is seeking compensation from Iran for damages related to past conflicts and casualties. This demand comes in response to reports that Iranian representatives are requesting compensation for damages incurred during a five-month military conflict. Trump stated that the issue of compensation was never part of previous negotiations.
Trump specified that his demand includes restitution for individuals killed or wounded by Iranian-linked roadside bombs and conflicts, citing the leadership of General Soleimani and the attack on the USS Cole. He further called for compensation for the families of thousands of combat victims and hundreds of thousands of protesters allegedly killed by Iran over the past 50 years, including 52,000 deaths reported in the last five months. Trump has instructed his representatives to include these demands in all future negotiations.
