YouTube has announced an increase in the eligibility requirements for new channels to begin earning revenue. Under the updated policy, creators must maintain a minimum of 1,000 subscribers alongside new performance benchmarks.
To qualify for monetization, channels must now accumulate 8,000 public watch hours over the past 12 months or reach 20 million Shorts views within the last 90 days. These revised regulations are scheduled to take effect on February 1, 2027.
